How it works
Your image is split into regions and each area’s median colour is found, so one big sky doesn’t completely drown out accents elsewhere. Those colours are grouped in perceptual Lab colour space using median-cut quantization, then near-duplicates are merged. The result is an averaged, harmonious palette — better for photos than exact pixel counting.
